"> Antique Hide-a-bed SOFA~Empire/Mission OAK Style

ANTIQUE EMPORIUM of Deadwood, South Dakota

Hide-a-bed SOLD!!
1900s Hide-a-bed SOFA
Empire / Mission - Style
Oak & Oil Cloth
This is the FIRST HIDE-A-BED made!!  It is an early 1900s (dating from
the 1910s to the 1920s) SOFA that makes into a full-size bed.
The style of this great furniture item is a cross between EMPIRE style and
MISSION OAK....I would call it Mission myself (as it almost perfectly
matches a Mission Oak style rocking chair that I have).
It has a very unique style of making it into a bed.  The top back LIFTS UP
and stays up with a latch.  The bottom seat FOLDS OUT twice and flips
down.  Inside is a BOX SPRING that is full-size.  No mattress included.
(Originally it probably had a feather mattress.)
This 6-foot wide x about 3-foot deep SOFA is constructed of both solid
and veneer OAK (and faux-painted Oak); the seat/back is OIL CLOTH.
This beautiful item is All ORIGINAL and in excellent condition.
(However, if it were to be redone/recovered and a mattress added,
the value would be in the $2,000-$2,500 range, per an online expert.)
The only down-side to this awesome sofa is that it is very heavy!
(Pickup in Deadwood, SD only)
